Sophisticated Glam for Marrell’s Birthday Photoshoot in DFW

Dallas weather decided to challenge us on shoot day, but nothing was stopping this birthday celebration. Marrell (he/him), a DFW-based influencer known for his sophisticated flair and engaging online presence, had a clear vision for this shoot: sleek, elevated glam.

When the rain hit, we pivoted by booking a Peerspace studio rental. The AC situation? Questionable at best. But the sets? Stunning. This studio offered an array of backdrops that were as diverse as they were dramatic, and we made the most of every minute. Even if we were sweating profusely.

We kicked off with a dreamy baby blue silk curtain setup — the perfect canvas to highlight Marrell’s crown, birthday sash, and tailored suit. The tone here was regal, celebratory, and polished. Even with the heat rising (literally), Marrell brought full model energy and made the set glow.

Next up: the dark, moody living room-inspired set. Think fireplace, candlelight, ornate frames, and a bold leather seat. Paired with Marrell’s suit and some dramatic lighting, these portraits leaned all the way into editorial fashion. We wanted sophistication with edge — and that’s exactly what we got.

Still in his suit, Marrell stepped into a deep red velvet curtain setup with a studio spotlight that gave us some dramatic, almost stage-like lighting. The mood here was confident and cinematic. It added another layer to the story we were telling — bold, powerful, and unapologetically stylish.

We also had one hiccup — one of the silver number balloons half-deflated before we even got started. But thanks to a little Photoshop magic, you’d never know. (The magic of post-production!)

For the final look, Marrell changed into a light denim shirt and khaki shorts. The inspo was earthy and bright, a sharp but welcome contrast to the luxe vibes we’d created earlier. Yes, we did all of this in just one hour. It was tight, sweaty, and fast-paced, but it was also wildly rewarding. With the right planning and a strong creative vision, even quick sessions can feel like full-scale productions.
