Showcasing Sustainable Fashion with a Purpose: A Photoshoot with Ren B Designs

Model: Lauren Whitfield

In the vibrant world of Dallas branding photography, it’s always a privilege to work with creatives who are pushing boundaries, telling meaningful stories, and championing authenticity. My recent fashion photoshoot with Ren B Designs, a Dallas based independent fashion designer, was a perfect example of all of this wrapped into one unforgettable session.

Behind the Scenes: Creative Direction

For this shoot, I kept the setup minimalistic: a clean white backdrop to allow the clothing to shine, paired with an array of props including broken phones, laptops, and vintage cameras. The contrast of modern waste with fashion forward design was intentional. It symbolized both the chaos of throwaway culture and the beauty that can emerge from sustainability and intentionality.

With Ren's art style in mind, we decided to incorporate some collage style edits into the final imagery. This creative direction challenged me to edit in a way I never have before. I really got to get creative and quirky, experimenting with layers, textures, and collaging in a whole new way.

The Garment: A Statement Piece

Ren's outfit, a dynamic top and pencil skirt crafted from multiple reclaimed fabrics, was more than just visually striking. It was a story stitched into every seam. Bold patterns, unexpected textures, and vibrant color were combined with impeccable tailoring. The ensemble exemplifies Ren’s philosophy: fashion can be expressive, inclusive, and sustainable.

About Ren B Designs: Redefining Gender Inclusive Fashion

Ren (they/them) founded their label on the belief that clothes have no gender. Frustrated by the lack of color and print in most unisex fashion, they began creating one of a kind pieces that celebrate individuality and expression. Their brand is a beacon for nonbinary and trans shoppers, prioritizing thoughtful design that allows people to feel seen, comfortable, and celebrated.

Every garment is handmade in Dallas in small batches, using preloved materials. Each fabric is carefully laundered and thoughtfully repurposed to ensure it's ready to wear straight from the hanger. Ren’s commitment to quality and sustainability is more than just a practice, it is a promise.

Why This Shoot Matters

As a photographer specializing in Dallas commercial photography, fashion photography, and branding imagery, capturing work like Ren's is both an artistic joy and a personal mission. Their vision aligns beautifully with the growing community of creatives and entrepreneurs across Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, and Denton who are rewriting the rules of fashion, identity, and sustainability.

In a world overrun with fast fashion, Ren’s approach reminds us that style doesn’t need to cost the Earth. Clothes can spark conversation, uplift identities, and still be environmentally responsible.
